Tenso

Tenso

Tenso emerged from research investigating Italian design not simply as a productive system, but as a shared cultural project built through the relationship between technical innovation, manufacturing knowledge, and localized expertise.

The project explores tube hydroforming both as a manufacturing process and as a design language, reducing the structure to its essential logic. The result is an extremely resistant, fully aluminum lightweight lounge chair (2.7 kg) shaped through the use of constraints as a generative tool.

This work questions what it means today to reconnect design with the territories, industrial cultures, and technical knowledge that once defined the Italian design system. Rather than separating form from production, Tenso attempts to position manufacturing itself as a cultural act capable of shaping contemporary identities and new relationships between industry and place.
